Former military President Ibrahim Babangida IBB ruled Nigeria between 1985 and 1993. He was dubbed “Maradona” the name of the legendary Argentine football, simply because he dribbled Nigeria with his endless political transition to civil rule. He dribbled himself out of power when he finally forced out of power by public uprising against him.
Ever since he left office he has remained a colossus in the political firmament of Nigeria. So it was no doubt a roll call of who is who when he gave out his second and youngest daughter Halimah, for marriage on May 12 to Alhaji Auwal Lawal Abdullahi. She’s also the last child of the family
She was born by late former first lady, Hajia Maryam Babangida, during the time IBB was the military president of Nigeria between August 1985 and 1991.
Halima’s groom Alhaji Auwal Lawal Abdullahi is a businessman and the traditional title of Sarkin Sudan Gombe. He is also said to be a governorship aspirant in Gombe state.
Apparently, Halima is set to become the third wife of Auwal Lawal.
Former president, billionaires, governors and 30 private jets touched down in Minna for IBB daughter’s wedding.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience, Senate President Bukola Saraki, National leader of APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and former vice president Namadi Sambo were at the wedding. Other distinguished guests included Governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara, Ahmed Abdulfatah of Kwara and Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano
IBB was at his boyish pranks or mischief with the seating arrangement. He or the event planner deliberately put the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the man he played a pivotal role in ousting from office, Goodluck Jonathan, to sit side by side.
Babangida sat next to them, perhaps to be on the watch out in case of any problem.
But what we will they be discussing? What will be going through the minds of the two politicians? Did Tinubu ask Jonathan when he would write the story of the election he lost to Muhammadu Buhari?
Also at the wedding, we saw the Senate President exchanging pleasantries with Asiwaju Tinubu. What would also be going through their minds as it is well known that they are at logger heads politically despite belonging to the same political party
If you are the senate President Saraki or Former President Goodluck Jonathan, what could be running through your minds against Asiwaju Tinubu, your political adversary.
We want responses
